How I Like Nits Best #1
When I can hear them, and see them too.
There are lots of good audio recordings available of Nits concerts, but very few good camera registrations of gigs and theatre tours which is such a pity. I don’t really need to explain why… especially what regards the theatre tours. This youtube video of Typist of Candy is a perfect illustration: we could do with some good quality recordings of their concerts with the always cute visuals and stage settings and Nits’ spontaneity and natural charm on display for everyone to enjoy.
I have so many wonderful memories of particular songs they played on tour, often lesser known songs that were not often performed live, with stunning videos or images playing in the background. I don’t understand why there’s not more demand for video registrations of Nits concerts. I’m sure there must be quite a lot of usable material lying around somewhere. Especially when I think of their more recent tours, – perhaps even their latest one in particular – they were a real treat to witness from closeby, with ears and eyes. There’s not a person on this planet I think, who after seeing Nits live once, wouldn’t agree that they are in essence a live band, they have all the skills, charms, wittiness, humour, liveliness and energy, plus a great sense of improvisation and theatrical instinct that any good live band needs… and more… I have all their DVD’s at home and love returning to them, playing them in the intimacy of my home. It’s always nice to have Nits around in the house, even more so when you can actually see them perform on a somewhat bigger screen…
This short clip of Typist of Candy so clearly shows that Nits are the makers of some very refreshing sort of theatre pop which over the years has evolved to something even more sophisticated and unclassifiable and it’s easy to comprehend that any form of theatre greatly benefits from being seen… So that we listeners can be onlookers too…
